Artists Bring Home 1st Place In Ozaukee Fair Contest

Over the summer, one of our students and her alumna sister participated in the Ozaukee County Fair’s School Art Contest. Over 400 entries were competing for the chance to take home a blue ribbon.

Maia (4th) and Liliana (8th) drew each other for their artistic pieces. Throughout the process, the students worked with Mrs. Stephan, the art teacher at St. Francis Borgia Catholic School, and drew their masterpieces at home. Both girls received 1st Place, Outstanding Award Overall, in their grades. This is Liliana’s first time winning and it is Maia’s 4th time taking home a blue ribbon. These two sisters find joy in creating art together at home.

The School Art Program, chaired by Jamie Jones-Stoecker, held the Annual Awards Reception this October at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts. The Museum generously displayed the top award winning art pieces from local students. The winners, their families and their teachers were invited to the awards ceremony and the artists were given an opportunity to speak about their pieces.
