8th Grade Volleyball Teams Qualify for Seton

St. Francis Borgia Catholic School’s 8th grade boys and girls both received invitations to compete in the exclusive Seaton Volleyball Tournament to be held the week of November 1st at The Milwaukee Sting Center and Catholic Memorial High School.

There are 11 girls on the St. Francis Borgia 8th grade team traveling to the Milwaukee Sting Center for the first round of games on November 3rd at 5:30 p.m. The girls qualified in the Division 1 bracket which is a huge accomplishment! This team has been playing together since they were in 5th grade. The Girls Division 1 format is a 32-team, single-elimination bracket tournament, with matches played 3 out of 5 games.

There are 10 boys on the St. Francis Borgia 8th grade team also traveling to the Sting Center for the first round of games (pool play) on November 1st at 5:30 p.m. This team of boys is new to the Metro Conference and not all of them have been playing together for very long. This shows how well they work together as a team to be successful! The Boys Division format is a 20 team, pool play tournament (4 pools of 5). The top team from each pool advances immediately to the 3rd round.

The Final 4 will play on Saturday with the championship games on Sunday, November 7th.

Since 2006, the Elizabeth Seton Volleyball Championships has served as the largest 8th grade tournament in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The Seton is volleyball’s equivalent to the Padre Sierra basketball tournament, bringing together schools from 7 conferences throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. The invitation-only tournament runs for a week and consists of 3 divisions containing 84 total teams, including both “A” and “B” teams (64 girls teams in 2 divisions and 20 boys teams in a single division). The Seton is unlike any other tournament most players will experience in middle school, and it is a great way for the 8th graders to cap their school careers!
